Father, people fail to keep their promises, but You never fail to follow through. Your promises are unconditional—a gift that’s hard to accept because we are suspicious of anything free. Throughout the Old Testament we read Your story to save mankind—to fulfil Your unconditional Gospel promise that has been culminated in Jesus Christ. May we always express gratitude in praise and honour.
The people of Israel persecuted their own prophets, and they killed Jesus. Today, people persecute those who have the audacity to speak Your Word as it truly is. Sometimes, they kill us. If not, they imprison us, or demand oppression. Let us not be trampled and killed by the madness over man. If persecution is Your will, remind us constantly of the Day we eagerly wait to see You. Let us not grow weary in the midst of persecution, but spread our wings for the Gospel. Be with our brothers and sisters around the world who are being persecuted for righteousness’ sake. Console their fears and troubles, giving to them a defence for the hope that is in us (1 Peter 3:13-17), that our enemies may know the hope of the Gospel set in Jesus Christ.
